Congratulations to Sunghoo Jung, out May Athlete of the Month!
Sunghoo is a star varsity tennis player and is also a member of the PCTVS ski team. A student of the STEM Academy Engineering program, Sunghoo founded and is team leader of the robotics team, where they compete every year, he is also a member of Skills USA. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with friends, playing ping pong and enjoys working out and playing basketball. Next year, Sunghoo plans on attending Rutgers University for Computer Science and aspires to become quantitative finance trader. After a great season Sunghoo wants to shout his team, “I want to shout out to my tennis team and my friends there. They definitely helped me get better since we played a lot. It’s like healthy competition.”

Congratulations to Sofia Pangan, our May Athlete of the Month!
Sofia’s talent shines on the Varsity Golf team. A student of the STEM Biomedical program she also participates in STEM HOSA. Sofia’s remarkable achievements this season include:
- Achieving her first hole in one
- Achieving a career-low and school-record score of 35 for 9 holes against Wayne Valley
- Securing a spot in the Girls Golf Tournament of Champions for the second year,
- Ranking among the top 50 statewide
- Tying for 9th place at both the Lady Bomber Tee-Off Classic and the Big North Conference tournament
- Winning first place at the Passaic County Girls Golf tournament by a margin of 6 shots
- Maintaining an impressive scoring average of 37.2 for qualifying rounds.
In her free time, Sofia loves being around friends and family, especially her two dogs, Max and Sparkle. She is also part of a golf program as a coach at the First Tee at Hendricks Golf Course in Belleville, New Jersey. Sofia gave a special shoutout to those who have supported her, “Shout out Coach Lawshe for all the support and love that he put into this year and season. I’d also like to shout out to my teammates because they give me a lot of courage. I’d also like to thank my parents.”
