Jeremy Batista

Jeremy Batista's enthusiasm for problem-solving and computer science led him to select the Academy of Information Technology as his program of choice at PCTI. He explained, "I chose my CTE because I love problem-solving, and the computer science program allows me to tackle challenges in the most effective manner possible. It's enjoyable, involves math, and those are things I've always been passionate about since childhood."

Jeremy's academic excellence is evident with a remarkable GPA of 4.11. His commitment extends beyond academics, as he actively engages in various extracurricular activities at school. He is a proud member of the Book Club, History Club, ERASE, and the Futures Business Leaders of America (FBLA).

Outside of his school commitments, Jeremy indulges in his passion for music by playing the guitar at home. He is self-taught and has been mastering his skills for over a year, finding joy in the process.

Reflecting on his achievement as Student of the Month, Jeremy expressed his happiness, stating, "It was an honor. Seeing the email made me really happy because all the effort I've put into school has been rewarding."

Looking forward to his post-high school endeavors, Jeremy has already committed to NJIT and plans to join their Honors Program while pursuing a major in Data Science. His career aspiration is to become a Data Analyst, as it involves problem-solving and delves into financial and company information, areas that captivate his interest. Jeremy also shares valuable advice for incoming freshmen and his peers, emphasizing the importance of cultivating good study habits for the challenges ahead in college.

Aalivia Aiken

Aalivia Aiken’s artistic flair and fascination with graphic design led her to select the School of Communication Arts-Graphic Design concentration at PCTI. She expressed her motivation, stating, “I’m drawn to art and poster design, and graphic design allows me to explore that passion. The animation aspect of the program also intrigued me.”

Aalivia is a standout student, boasting an impressive GPA of 4.05. Her commitment extends beyond academics to various extracurricular pursuits. She actively participates in Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, ERASE, Tri-M Music Honor Society, ASL Club, and World Language Honor Society, showcasing her diverse interests and involvement in school life.

Outside of school, Aalivia continues to pursue her creative interests. She dedicates her time to independent graphic design projects and photography, demonstrating her dedication to honing her craft.

When asked how it feels to be named Student of the Month Aalivia said she was initially surprised, but she is now happy and excited to receive the recognition. Looking forward, Aalivia has set her sights on a career in architecture. She plans to pursue a 5-year architecture program in higher education to fulfill this aspiration.

For incoming freshmen and her peers, Aalivia offers sage advice: “Embrace the journey and don’t let the pressures of school overwhelm you.”

Patrick Lo

Patrick Lo’s journey into the realm of computer science began with a familial influence, as his father, a computer scientist, introduced him to the field at a young age. This exposure fostered a deep-seated interest in the subject, leading Patrick to select the Computer Science pathway at the STEM Academy. When asked about his choice, Patrick explained, “My dad’s profession inspired me, and I’ve always been fascinated by the possibilities within computer science.”

With a stellar GPA of 4.40, Patrick’s dedication to academic excellence is evident. Beyond his studies, he actively contributes to the school community through his involvement in various clubs and sports. Patrick is a valued member of the varsity swim team and holds memberships in both the World Language Honor Society and the National Honor Society, demonstrating his commitment to both athletic and academic pursuits.

Outside of school, Patrick’s passion for swimming extends to his involvement in the North Jersey Bluestreaks club swim team, where he holds a silver-level ranking. He also helps coach younger swimmers in his swim club. Additionally, he dedicates his time to Scouts of America, achieving the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, and is part of two troops. Patrick’s extracurricular activities also include participation in the Cambridge Future Scholars’ Program, where he had the opportunity to collaborate with a renowned professor from Europe, focusing on natural language processing and artificial intelligence.

When asked how it feels to be named Student of the Month Patrick says, “I’m happy and honored to be named student of the month as it recognizes all the hard work I’ve done in the last four years.” Looking ahead, Patrick aspires to pursue a college education focused on computer science, with a particular interest in artificial intelligence and digital accessibility. He envisions a future career aligned with his academic pursuits, where he can apply his knowledge and skills to make meaningful contributions to the field.
