Madelyn Pacheco-Marin
Passaic native Madelyn Pacheco-Marin is a diligent, hardworking student who understands that success doesn’t necessarily fit a particular mold. She says, “Success looks different on everyone. I know it can be intimidating hearing about other students’ grades and accomplishments and GPAs, but you do not have to compare yourself and your success to others.”
Madelyn is a senior in the School of Cosmetology and has a GPA of 4.041. She is a member of the PCTVS NJROTC where she holds a leadership position as Officer of Deck, National Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, and Student Council. As a freshman, she immediately established her knack for hairstyling by winning second place in the Cosmetology 1 Hair Contest, and over the last four years has earned her Cosmetology and Hairstyling Permit. Madelyn has also been on the Principal’s Honor Roll twice and participated in the annual PCTVS food drive.
When she is not on campus, Madelyn volunteers some of her time as an English and Math tutor for the local elementary schools and has also worked with the Passaic Dignity House, which offers shelter for the homeless. She also recognizes the need for self-love and self-care, “While school and work are important components to one’s life, it is vital to give yourself some downtime and do things you enjoy. For me, it’s running in the park or watching and recreating make-up tutorials. I also like trying different hairstyles on myself too.”
Madelyn’s future goals include going out of state for college possibly to UCLA, University of Miami, Boston University, or NYU. She has also considered in-state schools like Rutgers, Montclair State, or Kean. Madelyn intends on studying economics, go to law school, and maybe even trying her hand at politics at some point. She also intends on staying true to her Cosmetology roots as well by opening a hair salon and one day creating her own hair color line.
Congratulations to Madelyn! We know you will be successful in all your future endeavors!
