Congratulations to football players Vincent Mariani and Clarence Freeman, November’s Athletes of the Month!
Vincent Mariani a three-year varsity starter who:
As a senior, helped power the Bulldogs to a North 1 Group 5 NJSIAA State Sectional Final at MetLife Stadium. Vincent is a versatile player who made key contributions to all aspects of the game: offensive, defensive and on special teams. On offense, he was the team’s premier threat at Wide Receiver. In the semi-finals against Union City and the Finals against Ridgewood, Vincent had 8 receptions for 102 yards and a fourth quarter MetLife Touchdown, which included an 81-yard game tying attempt in the final minutes of the Championships. Vincent was also a solid contributor on special teams as the Bulldog’s long snapper for punts and extra points. He was selected for the Second Team All-Liberty Red Division in the North Jersey Super Football Conference and has received Honorable Mention All-County for the wide receiver position.
Clarence Freeman is a three-year varsity starter who:
As a senior, helped power the Bulldogs to a North 1 Group 5 NJSIAA State Sectional Final at MetLife Stadium. Clarence is a versatile player who made key contributions in the defensive aspect of the game, as well as on special teams. On Defense, Clarence recorded 6 solo tackles and 5 assists, which accounted for 11 tackles in the semifinals and at the championship game at MetLife Stadium. Clarence was also a pivotal contributor on special teams as the Bulldog’s standout punter. With 9 punts for 352 yards (averaging nearly 40 yards a punt), he helped the Bulldog’s defense control field position during their magical playoff run. Clarence was also selected for Honorable Mention All-County at the defensive back position.
