Congratulations to Cheyenne Allen (Girls Spring Track) and Troy Hartung (Boys Golf) on being selected as PCTI’s April Athletes of the Month!
Cheyenne Allen is a three-year varsity starter and a 2015 senior captain from Haledon who:
Has had a tremendous senior year as the leader of the Girls Spring Track squad. Cheyenne has increased her personal best performances in the Triple Jump (36-’3”) and the Long Jump (16’-6”), both of which are top within the BNC Conference and Passaic County. She has helped the Lady Bulldogs remain undefeated this season (5-0) and powered them to yet another Big North Conference Liberty Division Championship. Cheyenne was a first team All-Liberty selection in the Triple Jump and a second-team All-Liberty selection in both the Long Jump and the 400 Meter dash. She was also a pivotal lead off runner on the team’s 4x400 meter relay.
Troy Hartung is a three-year varsity starter and a 2015 senior captain from Hawthorne who:
During the month of April, shot an amazing average of 39.7 (9 holes). In the Big North Conference Championship Match (18 holes), Troy shot an outstanding round at 75 taking 6th place overall as an individual against some of North Jersey’s best golfers. On the state level, he qualified for the NJSIAA Individual Championship Tournament (18 holes) and shot a 78 at the Group IV event, finishing 7th in Group IV at the state level. In other relevant Tournament outings, Troy marked a core of 82 at the prestigious FDU invitational, taking 15th overall in an event relegated to the state’s top golfers who plan on continuing their careers in golf at the collegiate level. He is a First Team Big North All-Liberty selection and will again qualify as a first team All-Passaic County golfer. At the PCCA county golf tournament, Troy finished in second place overall and fell just three stokes short of the Passaic County title.
