The PCTI community demonstrated outstanding support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month through a series of impactful initiatives. Led by the Student Council, the school organized a "jean day" fundraiser, allowing students and staff to dress in jeans for a small donation. This simple yet effective initiative fostered school-wide participation and raised both awareness and funds for an important cause.
In a creative addition, the Cosmetology and Barbering students brought their unique skills to the event, hosting a fundraiser where they offered pink fairy hair tinsel and stylish pink hair box braids. This activity not only engaged students with a symbolic show of support but also helped amplify the fundraising efforts in a visually meaningful way. Together, these initiatives attracted overwhelming support from students, staff, and the wider community, generating an impressive total of $6,143.45 to contribute to breast cancer research and awareness.
In recognition of PCTI's remarkable efforts during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, representatives from the Susan G. Komen Foundation visited the school to formally accept the donation raised through the dedicated initiatives. They expressed heartfelt gratitude for the students’ proactive involvement and the school’s commitment to the cause, highlighting PCTI’s dedication to fostering awareness and supporting breast cancer research.
This event underscored PCTI’s commitment to community engagement and the positive impact that can be achieved when students and staff unite for a shared purpose. By actively participating in these meaningful initiatives, students were empowered to make a tangible difference while embracing values of advocacy, collaboration, and leadership. This experience not only contributed to an important cause but also reinforced PCTI’s broader mission of nurturing civic responsibility, community involvement, and holistic growth within its educational framework.
