Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) students had a remarkable opportunity to witness a live baking demonstration led by world-renowned Certified Master Baker Biagio Settepani and his son, Chef Joseph Settepani. These accomplished pastry chefs shared their expertise with PCTI’s culinary arts sophomores and juniors, guiding them through the art of creating traditional Italian pastries, Sfogliatella and Lobster Tails.
This hands-on experience provided students with invaluable insights into the intricate techniques behind crafting these delicacies. As aspiring chefs, they had the rare chance to learn from industry leaders who have dedicated their careers to perfecting the art of pastry-making.
Biagio Settepani, CEO and Certified Master Baker, has a celebrated career spanning decades. Starting at the age of 13, he rose to prominence by mastering his craft and competing on national and international stages. His son, Chef Joseph Settepani, followed in his footsteps, continuing the family legacy with innovation and passion. Both chefs now manage the renowned Bruno Bakery alongside other family-owned establishments, making their expertise accessible to aspiring bakers.
The baking demonstration not only highlighted the technical skills required to create traditional Italian pastries but also emphasized the importance of dedication and an ongoing pursuit of knowledge in the culinary arts. Students were encouraged to ask questions, observe closely, and engage with these esteemed chefs to deepen their understanding of the craft.
