To his classmates and incoming freshmen, Mohammad offers this insightful advice: “Go and try new things. A ship may be safest at the harbor, but that is not what it is made for.”
Mohammad credits his time at PCTI with helping him grow and mature both personally and academically. “I grew as a person because of how much I changed. I’ve matured, and I can see and understand my plans and responsibilities.”
Mohammed, we look forward to seeing all the incredible things you will achieve in the future.
Congratulations!
Sevde Yildiz
Sevde Yildiz is an exemplary student in the Academy of Information Technology studying Computer Science at PCTI. Her passion for problem-solving and math, combined with her natural talent in these areas, inspired her to choose Information Technology as her CTE. Growing up in a family of computer scientists, she found further motivation from her parents, who nurtured her interest in the field.
Being named Student of the Month is a moment of pride and joy for Sevde. Reflecting on the experience, she shares, “It feels good. When I got the email, I screamed—it was very nice. I texted my parents to let them know, and I am very proud.” Her commitment to academic excellence is evident in her impressive GPA of 4.21.

She is a member of the Gifted and Talented program, the World Language Honor Society, and FBLA. She is actively involved in the CyberPatriot competition, which focuses on cybersecurity. In this bi-monthly competition, Sevde works on securing Windows systems against simulated security risks, recently advancing to the Gold tier with her team. Additionally, she contributed to the NASA HUNCH program, where she and her CTE class were finalists last year, presenting their redesigned website for NASA during a trip to Texas.
Beyond her school activities, Sevde takes her passion for learning to new heights. She is enrolled in computer science courses at Passaic County Community College, earning college credits while still in high school. This past summer, she participated in a humanitarian trip to Tanzania through the organization Embrace Relief. During the trip, Sevde and her group visited orphanages, opened a water well, funded through their collective efforts, and donated clothes and toys to local children. “It was a heartwarming experience,” she recalls, “and seeing how happy they were made it all worthwhile.” Additionally, Sevde tutors English on weekends, sharing her knowledge with others in her community.
Looking ahead, Sevde plans to pursue a degree in Computer Science and Data Science at a four-year college, with aspirations of obtaining her master’s degree and following in her parents’ footsteps. She also dreams of entrepreneurship, inspired by her father.
To her fellow classmates and incoming freshmen, Sevde offers the following advice: “Remember to have fun. Studying is important but enjoy life while balancing school.” Sevde credits PCTI for shaping her academic and professional future. “Because of PCTI, I have so much more experience and am more comfortable going into college because of my CTE class. It further enhanced my interest in Computer Science.”
Sevde, we can’t wait to see all the amazing things you will achieve in the future.
