Congratulations to Cecilia Aquino, November Athlete of the Month!
PCTI STEM Academy junior Cecilia Aquino shines as the libero for the Girls’ Volleyball team. Competing as part of a young team, Cecilia played a key role in their success this season, including breaking a six-year streak by defeating Bergen Tech. She is a dedicated student in the Biomedical and Life Science program and balances her academics with club volleyball for Sideout Sports.
Cecilia’s impressive performance earned her recognition as part of the Passaic County Coaches’ Association 2nd Team All-County and the Big North Liberty Division 1st Team All-League. Over 25 regular season games, Cecilia achieved 42 assists, 36 aces, and an impressive 212 digs, demonstrating her skill and commitment to the sport.
In addition to her athletic achievements, Cecilia is an active member of Student Interact, Book Club, and HOSA. Outside school, she enjoys reading and writing, showcasing her well-rounded interests. Reflecting on her favorite memory from the season, Cecilia shared her pride in the team’s resilience, saying, “Even after losing the county championship, we bounced back and won Vo-Tech. I’m excited to see how far we progress next season.”

Congratulations to Ian McDuffie, November Athlete of the Month!
PCTI STEM Academy sophomore Ian McDuffie excels on the football field as a receiver and linebacker. A dedicated student in the Engineering Program, Ian also showcases his athletic versatility by participating in basketball.
In his free time, Ian enjoys playing video games and training to improve his skills. Reflecting on his favorite memory from the season, Ian shared, “Probably playing against West Orange,” highlighting his love for competition and rising to the challenge.
Ian is excited to continue growing both academically and athletically as he progresses through his high school career.

Congratulations to Gabriel Miles, November Athlete of the Month!
PCTI School of Construction Technology junior Gabriel Miles leads on the football field as the team’s quarterback. A dedicated student in the Carpentry program, Gabriel balances his academic and athletic commitments with an active social life. In his free time, he enjoys working out and spending time with friends.
Reflecting on his favorite memories from the season, Gabriel shared, “The bus ride back after a win and one of the funnest games is against Eastside,” emphasizing the camaraderie and excitement of the game. Gabriel also wanted to give a special shoutout to all the seniors, thanking them for their leadership and helping make the team stronger.

Congratulations to Joel Perez, November Athlete of the Month!
Joel Perez, a senior in PCTI’s Academy of Criminal Justice, shines as a standout wide receiver and cornerback on the football field while also excelling in track. Dedicated to pursuing his athletic dreams, Joel spends his time after school training for football, aiming to play at the collegiate level.
Joel’s favorite memory from the season was his record-breaking 99-yard touchdown, the longest in school history, achieved during the game against West Orange. Reflecting on the season, Joel shared, “Shoutout to the coaches—they never gave up on us. Big shoutout to the players; whether we win or lose, we never stop playing until the last whistle. I wish them the best for next year.”
Looking ahead, Joel aspires to pursue football in college with hopes of making it to the NFL. If not, he plans to explore opportunities in the criminal justice field or business.
