Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) juniors Eleny Pereyra and Emily Duval are no strangers to donating their time and talents to raising funds for those in need. Over the course of three weeks, the dynamic duo raised more than two-thousand dollars in donations for Direct Relief, a humanitarian organization that improves the health hand lives of people affected by poverty and emergencies. Their donation will be split four ways, with five-hundred dollars going to benefit hurricane relief in Puerto Rico, Texas, the Caribbean, and the Syrian Refugee Crisis.
The Direct Relief association was specifically selected because donations are used to purchase medical supplies. The correlation is clear: both Eleny and Emily are members of PCTI’s Academy of Medical Arts. Therefore, the organization was a perfect choice.
These fundraising pioneers plan to keep their charity efforts alive even after graduating from PCTI. Next year, they will begin looking for future Medical Arts student-advocates to helm their aptly named “E&E” organization.
Congratulations to Eleny Pereyra & Emily Duval, as well as Medical Arts students and teachers who helped them achieve this fundraising goal!
