PCTI Baseball Stars Sign Athletic Intent to Attend Universities

On November 20th, 2017, Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) honored senior members of the Varsity Baseball Team who completed letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at the Division I and Division II level. The process, formerly known as the NLI (National Letter of Intent), presents an early period option for student-athletes to commit to a college/university.

Coach Robert Nutile and fellow Bulldogs celebrated the signing of Marcus Eusebio to the University of Tennessee at Martin (Division I), Isaias Guzman to Post University (Division II) and Arbert Cipion to Southern New Hampshire University (Division II). All three seniors boasted a tremendous junior season in the Spring of 2017, which carried PCTI to both the County Finals and NJTAC Tech Finals. The Bulldogs finished with a respectable 15-12-1 season record in one of the most competitive divisions of the Big North Conference.

Marcus Eusebio was the team’s ace and the number one starting pitcher. When not on the mound, he rounded off the team’s infield at second base and shortstop. Statistics include:
On the mound: 10-Games pitched with 4 Wins and 5 Losses featuring 56.33 Innings Pitched with a 3.73-Earned Run Average and 59 Strikeouts
At the plate: 556-On Base Percentage and a .574-Slugging Percentage

Isaias Guzman was the team’s starting third baseman, and was also found on the pitcher’s mound for an occasional start (as well as relief). Statistics include:
At the plate: 28-Games played with 20-Runs from 24-Hits with 10-Doubles, 1-Triple, 2-Home Runs and scoring 28-Runs Batted In (RBI) with a .406-On Base Percentage and a .542-Slugging Percentage
On the mound: Though limited in appearances, he posted a 3.54 Earned Run Average

Arbert Cipion moved from outfield to the infield (shortstop) out of program necessity. He led the team in nearly every offensive statistical category until his 2017 season was cut short by an injury in a mid-season game against Bergen Tech. Statistics include:
At the plate: 16-Games played with 23-Runs from 19-Hits with 6-Doubles, 1-Triple and scoring 9-Runs Batted In (RBI), featuring a .404-Batting Average with 11-Stolen Bases.
