PCTVS November Students of the Month!

Zahra Awad

Zahra Awad's passion for education led her to choose the School of Education and Human Services as her chosen program at PCTI. She explained, "I've always been good with children, and I wanted to have the opportunity to learn what working in the teaching field would be like."

Zahra is an exemplary student, with a GPA of 4.49 she is dedicated to both her academic pursuits and extracurricular activities. Zahra is an active member of Skills USA, where she served as the school's competitor for customer service in the previous and current year. In addition, she is a proud member of the Rho Kappa Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, Book Club, Muslim Student Association, and PCTVS Craft for Good.

Beyond her academic commitments, Zahra engages in meaningful after-school activities. Through the World Language Honor Society, she has volunteered for initiatives such as Operation Christmas Child, Color a Smile, and the Exchange Culture Festival, showcasing her dedication to giving back to the community.

As she looks ahead to her future, Zahra has set ambitious goals. She plans to attend college to pursue a degree in interior design, with a minor in either graphic design or business highlighting her passion for creativity.

Zahra offers valuable advice to incoming freshmen and her fellow classmates, saying, "Find something you're passionate about. Having a goal will bring you motivation and persistence, which is needed for success."

Brooke Reed

Brooke Reed is a dedicated student enrolled in the School of Performing Arts' Dance program at PCTI. Her journey into the world of dance was driven by a profound passion that has grown since her childhood. Brooke chose the dance program at PCTI because of its professionalism and the opportunities it provided for her to elevate her skills to the next level.

In addition to being a dedicated PCTI dance student, Brooke is an active member of various clubs and societies at school. She is part of the National Honor Society, the World Language Honor Society, and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. Moreover, she contributes her talents as a member of the PCTI dance ensemble.

Brooke's commitment to the art of dance goes beyond school, as she competes with her local dance studio, Top Tier Dance Academy and performs in competitions throughout the year.

Being named Student of the Month was a delightful surprise for Brooke, and she expresses her honor and gratitude for this recognition stating “I was surprised but happy to be able to accept it. I’m really happy about it!” Brooke’s 4.37 GPA definitely makes her deserving of accolade.

Looking ahead to the future, Brooke has ambitious plans. She intends to pursue a bachelor's degree in computer science and eventually attain a master's degree in cyber security.

When asked about advice for incoming freshmen and classmates, Brooke offers some advice: "Be open to making new friendships and connections, as the people you know can help you in your journey, and it’s important to have a strong community with you."

Brooke Reed is a passionate and dedicated student who embodies the spirit of growth and excellence in her chosen field of dance, and we are excited to see her future achievements and successes.

Eric Sadowski

Eric Sadowski is an exemplary student in the Computer Science pathway at the STEM Academy. His fascination with computers, nurtured by his father's career in the tech industry, drove him to choose this academic concentration.

Earning the title of Student of the Month is a well-deserved honor for Eric. He expresses his feelings about this achievement, stating, "It's an honor. It was a surprise at first, but my hard work paid off." Eric's dedication to his studies is reflected in his remarkable academic record, boasting an impressive GPA of 4.42.

Eric's involvement extends beyond the classroom, as he actively participates in a variety of clubs and activities. He is a member of the environmental club, astronomy club, and proudly represents the school as a varsity baseball player. Additionally, he is a member of the National Honor Society, emphasizing his commitment to academic excellence.

In his free time, Eric's commitment to community shines through his volunteer work, which includes constructing treehouses for the Laura Wood Arboretum, serving as a camp counselor at the Wayne Boys and Girls Club as well as a soccer referee for the US Soccer Association.

Notably, Eric has also created a charitable initiative called "Extra Innings." This initiative combines his passion for baseball with community service by collecting lightly used and new equipment for children in the Paterson PAL league. To date, he has collected over 500 pieces of equipment, ensuring that underprivileged children have the tools they need to enjoy the sport. In addition, Eric established the website www.albertsadowskifoundation.org in memory of his grandfather to raise awareness and provide resources on the heart condition, bicuspid aortic valve, which Eric also has.

Looking ahead, Eric's plans after high school include pursuing a college education with a major in Computer Science and a minor in cyber security. His ultimate goal is to establish a cyber security business alongside his brother.

For his peers, particularly incoming freshmen, Eric offers valuable advice, saying, "Don’t worry about what other people think of you, just do your own thing. Once you get that mindset, you can pretty much do anything."

Eric Sadowski's dedication to academics, extensive involvement in extracurricular activities, and commitment to community service make him a standout student with a promising future. We anticipate witnessing his continued success in the field of Computer Science and beyond.
