April Students of the Month

Jade Ashley Mendez

Jade Ashley Mendez

Jade Ashley Mendez is a hardworking student who understands family values and what it takes to be a good role model. “I have a younger brother here at STEM and I make sure that I am a good role model for him. In turn, he motivates me to be the best person I can be to be able to show him how much hard work pays off.” Well, for this Clifton native, the hard work has definitely paid off because Jade is the STEM Academy April Student of the Month.

“Being student of the month is pretty intimidating because they are usually held to a higher standard, but I am confident that my hard work and grades speak for themselves.” Jade is a member of the STEM Academy’s Computer Science pathway where she has an outstanding GPA of 4.40.

She is the secretary of PCTVS Book Club and a STEM Saturday Academy Teacher’s Assistant. Jade is also a member of the National Honor Society, World Language National Honor Society, Skills USA, Gifted and Talented, a City Councilwoman of AIA NJ Girls State, and a member of GSA.

Jade enjoys the challenge of learning new things and in her spare time she recently began crocheting and learning how to play bass guitar. She also loves building video games in the Unity Game Engine.

Jade’s future goals are to attend either New York University or Rutgers and continue studying Computer Science with a focus on Game Design.

When asked if she had any advice or words of wisdom for any current or incoming students, Jade replied, “Try to involve yourselves in as many clubs and activities as possible. You’ll make new friends and memories you can cherish forever.”

Congratulations to Jade on her exceptional achievements – we know you will continue to accomplish great things!
