Sydney Shannon and Cameron Bruffy

Congratulations to Sydney Shannon and Cameron Bruffy, March’s Athletes of the Month!


Sydney Shannon is a third-year varsity letter winner and an overall team captain who:

As a junior during the month of March, she extended her winter track season to the NJSIAA State Meet of Champions. Sydney finished the season ranked as the #2 Pole Vaulter in both Passaic County and Northern New Jersey by regularly clearing 11’ in the event. She also finished 7th in Passaic County in the 55 meter hurdles (9.29). Sydney had 3 major wins in the Pole Vault event and took home gold medals at the Big North-Liberty Division Championship meet, the Passaic County Championship meet and the North 1 Group IV State Championship meet. She placed 3rd at the State Group IV Championship meet and on February 24th, Sydney placed 9th overall at the State Meet of Champions. She currently holds the school record in Pole Vault for both the Indoor Winter Track and Spring Track and Field seasons. As member of the Academy of Medical Arts, Sydney has a current GPA of 4.05 and ranks in the top 10% of her graduating class. Cameron Bruffy is a four-year varsity letter winner and a team captain who:

As a senior during the month of March, he earned a trip to Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall in the NJSIAA Individual Wrestling Tournament. Cameron had a tremendous season in which he led the Wrestling Team to the NJSIAA State Sectional finals in defense of their 2017 State Sectional Championship. Along the way, Cameron notched his 100th Career Bulldog Victory with the team’s State Sectional Semifinal win over North Bergen High School. He eventually posted a career record of 109 wins with 24 losses and a senior season record of 35 wins with only 7 losses. Cameron placed 1st in the Minuteman Tournament, 1st in the Garfield Christmas Tournament, 2nd in the Mountain Lakes Tournament, 3rd in the Passaic County Tournament, 2nd in the NJSIAA District 5 Tournament, and 4th in the NJSIAA Region 2 Tournament, earning him a spot at Atlantic City where he advanced to the 16th round of the NJSIAA State Tournament Individual Finals in the 145 pound weight class. As member of the Academy of Criminal Justice, Cameron has already committed to continue his academic and athletic career at the Division III level at Centenary University.
