PCTI’s very own Yudelka Torres of the School of Culinary Arts competed against numerous high school students at Monroe College in New Rochelle, NY for the coveted title of America’s Best High School Pastry Chef.

She came out on top, taking home the much sought-after title and the honor of receiving a full tuition scholarship for the AAS Baking and Pastry Arts Program at Monroe College!

Only the top eight submissions were invited to compete in the final round of the America’s Top High School Pastry Chef competition. Yudelka’s award winning dessert featured a delectable passion fruit mousse with coconut sorbet and blood orange sauce.

Chef Gerard Molloy, CEPC, AAC, and Monroe Pastry Instructor, had said this about the highly competitive event, “We continue to be impressed with the caliber of entries we receive in pastry. It is a tribute to the student, their schools and their coaches.”

Monroe College is dedicated to strengthening the culinary capabilities of high school students by providing high-quality educational experiences.

Congratulations to PCTI culinary superstar Yudelka Torres, America’s Best High School Pastry Chef of 2014!
