Cameron Visbeen is a young man filled to the brim with talent and ambition. Hailing from North Haledon, Cameron is heir to the Visbeen legacy: a carpentry company started by his grand- father. He aspires to join in the tradition of the family business by becoming a fourth generation craftsman.
It’s no wonder Cameron found a home in PCTI’s School of Construction Technology where he continues to expand his knowledge of the carpentry profession. “I enjoy the gratification of building things with my hands, particularly framework,” Cameron said while describing his fondness of the craft. “PCTI offered me the opportunity to get a jump start on my future profession. I’ll be really prepared after graduation.” What attracts him most to the field is a fascination with how everything fits together. “Build- ings can withstand anything,” Cameron said, “even in their earliest phases. It all starts with a good rough framing.” Cameron has already gotten a head start on his career of choice. This past summer he held a job with the Dykhouse Construction Company where he worked full-time, five days a week, as a carpenter’s apprentice. He also gained experience with the DMK Landscaping Company.
In his free time, Cameron can be found working on engines with his friends. He also volunteers at Bethany Church where, as part of the Faith Reformed Youth Group, he assists children with crafts and bible lessons. Cameron even helps with lighting and graphics at church services. Recently, Cameron was inducted into the PCTI chapter of the National Honor Society. His willingness to help others is a hallmark of his personality. Cameron is constantly active, always meeting deadlines to projects. This “go-getter” attitude has served him well throughout his time at PCTI. He accredits his superb time management skills to the superior instructors he has had while attending high school.
One thing is for certain, Cameron’s penchant for figuring out how things work will pave his pathway to success. This young hopeful is sure to make his dreams a reality.
